Job Description

As part of our mission to pave the way for children’s success worldwide, Therapy Source is seeking an Orientation and Mobility (O&M Specialist) to provide in-person services about one hour per week for a 4th grade charter school student. This position is for ESY and the upcoming school year.

Orientation and Mobility Specialist Position Details:

  • Flexible Schedule between the hours of 8:00am - 3:30pm
  • 3 hours per month and 30 minutes of consult time totaling 3 hours and 30 minutes monthly

Orientation and Mobility Specialist Qualifications:

  • School Certification as an Orientation and Mobility- certification exam offered by ACVREP to become a Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS)
  • Possession of (or willingness to obtain) up-to-date clearances
  • Proof of individual professional liability insurance (or willingness to obtain)

Orientation and Mobility Specialist Responsibilities May Include:

  • Evaluating and determining appropriate itinerant services based on student needs
  • Working to help guide a visually impaired student.
  • Recommending and assisting with adaptations for classroom instruction
  • Providing direct services with the use of the appropriate mode of communication
  • Using assistive technology with student
